The PfE Network was established in 2006. It was managed by the IDeA and facilitated by Ian MacGregor until 2009, when EMIE took over administration of the group.

Planning for Excellence Network Consultation
The PfE Network provides a forum for managers responsible for planning, strategy and performance in children's services. In the light of Ofsted's recent announcement about inspections, government statements about the burden of future central direction and scrutiny, and current budget pressures, we are looking at how best to serve the needs of the group. A consultation on whether to hold another meeting in the autumn has been started. To join the network and propose your ideas, please go to our Community of Practice page, or email pfe@nfer.ac.uk. We will collate responses and notify members of the result by the end of July.
Unannounced inspections
EMIE has published an analysis of Ofsted's first 63 unannounced inspections letters, showing patterns of areas for priority action, areas for development and strengths.
